Re: dead baiting in summer
I'll be out a lot during the summer, long days and hard fighting (occasionally tail walking) although not always what you want, but great to see them breaching the water none the less
But during the warm months, nothing comes close to travelling light (gaz ) a rucksack with all your gear, and chucking lures around. Allows you to cover a hell of a lot more water than the guy sat in one spot all day.

Re: dead baiting in summer
It may have to be a 2 day trip, one day on one water, and the other on the water next to it, theyre too big to do both in one day.
We may have to do some covert bivvy'ing

Re: dead baiting in summer
i do sometimes deadbait on big reservoirs like anglezarke or the moorland reservoirs like clowbridge, but i stick mostly to lure fishing after work when the heat of the days gone down...this year i've decided lifes to short for just predators,so i've joined withnell ac & southport ac on top of my usual local sappi ac,to give me a good chance of tench & barbel...with maybe a carp or 2 for good measure...a lure rod will always be in my rod bag though

Re: dead baiting in summer
why i wouldnt look after a neighbors japanes knotweed
gonna get in trouble here now
carp and more so carpers and to be fairly specific certain types of carp and certain types of carpers
are the bane of my life and our waterways
ill clarify ive nothing against the anglers who go out and target low stocked waters (be that low stocked accross the board or just low densities of carp)
what really gets me is the well were not catching many lets put some/more carp in there
that mentality along with the ruck of carpers you see these days who seem unable to go fishing without two barrow loads of gear for an afternoon session then take up half a lake through using a bait boat.......
I mean go back 15 years carpers were still in the rarity stages then it mushroomed and we have waters now where other fish dont get a look in, then there is the diseases they bring in and carry .......hence rat fish
Rant over

Re: dead baiting in summer
just one more thing
if you want decent waters where all fish thrive there is only one type of fish to pander to
apex predators
if fisheries were run with that mentality EVERY species would prosper

Re: dead baiting in summer
and I agree with some of the important points you make,
however ..
As a man who manages 6 lakes and a 2 mile stretch of a river, the lakes ranging from a big CARP pit through to intimate little ponds I respect fish from a gudgeon to a cat fish and would never intentionally or mindlessly harm any... the point was the drop kick not the species...!!
Anyway...
peace and love...

fair play and to be fair you can insert all of the alien species we have swimming in our waters into my veiwpoint its not just carp but rainbows, wels, zander, orfe, stillwater barbel
Re: dead baiting in summer
Well it saddens me I have seen people killing pike and throwing them in bushes for the same reason as they think it’s going to wipe out there roach fishing. Yes like all sports carp fishing has its idiots. I might play the fool and clown about but fish care is paramount to me even to the point of getting my self carved up trying to remove 3 sets of trebles form a pike a few weeks ago. I have been a carp angler for years it has given a hell of a lot back to me it has kept me sane through some very bad times in my life it has actually helped me with work (better than the golf club) and I have so great friends that I would not have had if it was not for my passion of this sport. But as I have always said every one is entitled to an opinion on here but in my eyes they don’t call them king carp for nothing.

Re: dead baiting in summer
there are plenty of numptys out there sure but its not what they are catching that makes them goons its just them. fishings fishing and we should all stick together instead of having negative opinions on individual types of fishing and respect all fish no matter what it is
i agree about the pike being thrown in bushes stotty, discracefull. i think its something that is on the decrease tho due to better educating
