I did something that sounds not too dissimilar on the Lancaster canal, was casting inbetween the boats towards the far wall, when I gave a bit too much beef,and landed perfectly onto the wall, a loud crack was heard, retieved,and has successfully cracked my fatso clean in half....

I tend to open trebles before loosing the lure, they tend to open up at 50lb test

I 2nd that except when I hooked a power cable in Sweden (they run them under water to the islands) then it actually took the back treble clean off the lure good old Power Pro

If your ever fishing the big lochs up here be wary of power cables too quite a few times now on 3 seperate waters i or my boat partner have encountered cables.
Bit scarey at the time when a 5/0 eagle claw is embedded past the barb :)
