Yeah, your carp rod and bait runner with both be fine for starting off in pike fishing.
You'll find info on every aspect of the sport through post on here, if you have a read through this post, whic coincidently was made yesterday for Nicho.
https://ukfishingforums.darkbb.com/predator-fishing-f9/help-with-piking-t1160.htm
Have a read of it,and let us know what else you've got,and we can let you know what else your gunna need.
I dont know the exact location of the wheatsheaf,as I got thet just from a quick Google, but if you've a village shop, you'll do just as well to ask them where about it is.

Re: never been pikeing but want to go now
The scales aint an essential item when your starting up,but are a handy item once you start getting more serious about it,and want to know the weights of your fish. The net I would say is your most important item as your just starting out,so definately wont want to be chinning the fish, untill your shown exactly how to do,otherwise you risk hurting both yourself and the fish.
Do you plan to Chuck lures,or dead/live bait for them? cos your set-up swayng more towardsthe bait side of things, dont get me wrong, there's no huge problem with chucking lures on a carp rod, with a bait runner, but its perhaps a bit of overkill, just a light spinning rod and reel would do just the same, but in a smaller package if you understand I'd defo start out with braid for lure fishing,as you'll get far more sensitivity, and in my opinion,it will out last mono line, albeit more expensive, perhaps 15-20quid a spool,I'll find a ink for a seller on ebay later on.
I'd seriously suggest going with someone who's got some experience in handling pike, before you go solo. They command a gread deal of respect, and a stray finger,or treble will really ruin your day
I just looked at the bit I found about wheatsheaf,it does'nt give a phone number, but is listed underneath swillington, which Im positive some of the other lads have fished at,so they'll know a lot more about it than me.

Re: never been pikeing but want to go now
Also, if you simply type the word "pike" in the search bar at the top of here (5th bar along) you'll find a whole wealth of information about them, also, if you need to know anything in particular, send a pm to Either Woody, or Danny, these are our 2 top pikers.
Everyone will help out as much as they can.

Re: never been pikeing but want to go now
alrite mate!
wot ya want to no???!!
are u headin 4 lure fishing or deadbaitin?
your carpin gear will b fine for general deadbaitin etc.
but ya lure fishing is a bit more personal..... but keep it simple mate! general lure work 30lb braid will do a 6-9ft rod is best and fixed spool, dont even start on baitcasters to ya get the jist of wot ya doin... and try and get out with someone who can show ya the in's and out's of handlin pike! a net and forceps or good old long nose pliers will help ya get the hooks out! as for lures it all depends on depth of water and wot ya pike are feedin on?? feel free to PM me if ya want to no more, sure some others will also gv advise

how are you to learn or find anything out if you don't ask ?
Listen mate ask away here this is why i opend this board to bring anglers together and to teach and also to learn from other anglers there are so many guy's who sit at home vegging all day then realize they need a hobby so they go to the local £ store buy a rod and call them selves anglers now 9/10 they end up either blanking or making dangerous rig's !
so even if just a little bit of what they read from our site helps them then we have done our job.
and YF have no room to talk like that telling you to stop asking questions they are are the biggest yorkshire based forum which is 90% amatures & kids and only a hand full of guy's who actually know what there on about.
