Re: baby pike caught on canal
Rapalas never really impressed until one day while trolling on Trent...the pike takes had slowed right down to one take an hour so I decided to have a go for perch on the light gear, at the bottom of my box was a Rapala Team Esko in yellow firetiger, I put it on the trace and started to troll whe it was nailed by a perch of about 1 1/2lb :bounce:. That day I had over 100 perch to 2lb 10oz...Thats the day I saw Rapala in a new light :sunny: Today I have about 40 Rapalas for my perch/pike fishing and I never leave home without them.

Re: baby pike caught on canal
Some bad news boys, today a mate of mine was fshing up there and there was a foreigner fishing for pike with no lead or drop offs  He told my mate that if he did not catch his wife would go hungry....this is really bad news that could do some serious damage on a nice bit of local water. Even worce he found a set line in the inlet that was set for pike  We need to spend more time on here lads to save our water

all we can really do is is report it to EA and amke them aware of it then if we see anyone up there or anywhere doing these sort of things tell them to leave or you'll call the authority's thing is theres no laws stopping people catching fish on rod and line then eating them but if there using set lines i'd suggest you pretend to take out phone and call the police or something until they Fook off.
and on that note with you been a EA license holder you can request to see another anglers rod license. so if you see them ask for there rod license if they don't have one report them. incident hotline 0800 80 70 60

Your probably bored of me saying this by now Woody, but keep yor venues under wraps. I'll bet your E,U mate had read the thread on this place on the Yorkshire Fishing site. They are not daft and are well versed on pretending to play dumb. Put it this way, If I was going to put set lines down on this place it would be by the inlet after reading about it on the net

Re: baby pike caught on canal
Your probably right Slippy, the biggest problem is that nowbody is supposed to fish the water so getting the EA involved could possibly jeopardise our fishing as well :|

This may be a good angle to aproach the EA with? As to getting a local club going? Just a thought.

Re: baby pike caught on canal
If it's getting fished anyway, then something regulated has to be the best option. Try start a pike club? maybe get the PAC involved, they have a bit of clout with stuff like this. After all there is little else in the place but pike..........

i think i'll email the PAC and se what they say, unless you want to message them woody ?
Re: baby pike caught on canal
It might be worth trying the Wakefield branch as they have access to Fairburn Ings, if not I think that there is a guy on YF that is a member so I will look into it.
