pike still spawning or not?

ey up lads. had a wee tab along the canal on thursday and saw a few different lads after the pike both lots deadbaiting. it was about 5/6am towards skipton. had a quick gas with them and i put to them that the pike are spawning and they said due to the grand weather they had an early spawn and are safe to go after now?????
as we were talking one of them reeled in a jack that didnt fight much but once the net went into the water it went crackers.

is it accurate to say they have finished spawning and are safe to wet a line and not do them any harm?

in all fairness i'd probably leave it until the river season re opens just to make safe as we can never really be 110% sure

It all depends on the water but I would say that the Pike have already spawned on 90% of venues

there ya go thats coming from the esox angler himself!! lol

fair 1. just wanted to be sure. last thing i want to do is harm any fish. seen another chap towards crossflatts this afternoon and he and his son had deads and lives out and said they have had a few.

might have a quick sesh tomorrow. arrive an hour before light and fish till about 8am ish. only a short quick sesh to see how the fish are....

ahhh good post nidge, so realy them lads on the canal will probobly be right in saying that the pike have finished their spawn and will be safe to go for now.
