Live baits
I know there was a bit started by Russ, but his question was more directed to keeping them for longer periods of time, whereas my queery is, short term. The last few days Ive been using more and more lives, but, carrying another rod just to catch bait becomes a bit inpractical after a while, especially when you have to waste time catching some when you'd much rather be sat watching the float bob up and down.
If I wanted to catch between 6 and 12 baits (6") and keep them just for the time I was fishing, and not take them home or move them or anything else that becomes illegal, whats the best way? a simple bucket and 12v airator or something else? I took a small bucket the last time I went out, but obviously they start to go a bit lifeless after a while, and I'd like them to be moving round a lot more.
Any suggestions please

My Bait : get on the bait Zone
Re: Live baits
Thanks man, was thinking along those lines
Might be able to bodge one together, bucket and a lid,and just an airator perhaps.

Spot on but what I like about that is it folds down and isn’t as cumbersome as a bucket.
best price i can find an air pump posted

Re: Live baits
I tend to catch my baits on the morning then change the water every hour on the hour, this keeps oxygen in the water and keeps your baits fresh, I know that Kev has a bucket with holes in the top and just sbmerges the bucket in the water, there is then oxygen in the bucket at all times keeping the lives good for days.

Re: Live baits
You don't need an airiator mate how we did it on the fens with Kevin was one of the simplest things.... and it works.
Get a bucket and drill holes in the lid about 20 or so holes and attach some rope to the handle then simply fill the bucket with river water add your baits to the bucket place the lid ontop, then lower the bucket into the water then turn upside down by turning the bucket upside down your allowing more dissolved oxygen into the bucket and also all the fish waste will leak out of the bottom where the holes are giving the fish a fresh cycle of well oxygenated water.
