ive had 3 this year all kittens around the 3lb mark tho

that would do for a start lol

a cat a cat when you've never had one, althoug given the choice id have a bigger one

so would i lol, i think cats give the best fight (thats my view) especially a 30lb + one, as they swim backwards aswell! im going to a lake this weekend that has them to 70lb + its abit early in the season for them, but its worth a try

Tom, I can't find anything regarding the lake (Forty acre) that you posted about earlier. Got any more information on it?

in fact i do have some useful information (for once)

ithe main lake (about 3 acres on size) set in 132 acres of woodland, with depths reaching 16ft in some parts of the lake, the lakes hold various species of fish, which are all the normal silvers, rudd, bream, roach. but also hold some specimen sized fish including carp, catfish, barble and the odd chub,

the records are as followed:-
common carp - 36lb
mirror carp - 27lb
catfish - 71lb
barble - Unknown but ive heard a 8lber has been out, which i thought was a goood size for a lake.

there is another lake but im not sure of the details of that one.

Just found it on the map. It's only a ten minute drive from my house! Is booking required ?

10 minute drive you lucky man!, and no i dont think it is! my mate said you just turn up., not sure weather you have to notify anyone on arrive tho, would be best to ring a find out ken

You'll no doubt find out when you go there, so you can write a blog and fill in the gaps, lol. I have heard of the lake now that I know its name, not fished it though. I wish you luck.

yh i will do ken, ill probs be giving them a ring on my lunch break to find out some more details and a blog will be posted, even if i dont catch, and healdy, that is a lovely light coloured fish!, they are truly magnificent fish, i could sit on a bank for a week and be please with catching just one of these magnificent beasts

I don't know but it did keep muttering "Drat and Double Drat"


Lovely fish isn't it - i wish i had the photo of the bigger one!

They go to a 100 lb in there and the carp to 78!!!!! Hence why its fully booked already for next year...........or I may have treated myself for my 50th!!!

words can not describe that view, waking up to that must have be spectacular

You are not kidding !

Especially when sat bleary eyed with a mug of tea and in front of you a carp of maybe 50 or 60 lb leaps clear of the water!!

it was like a pig landing....unbelievable!!!!!


What have you done - I really want to go back now!
