Best venue for Zander.

Post by lureangler on Wed Jan 18, 2012 7:35 am

Zander, the one species that has always eluded me . Possibly because I am in North Yorkshire ? Anyway, I am determined this year I WILL target and catch one. Does anyone know a venue that can give me the best chance possible ? I dont mind travelling and maybe spending a few days fishing a new area. I enjoy lure fishing, but will live, or deadbait if thats the preferred way. C'mon guys , any suggestions ? Exact locations please. Thanks. [b]

Well what can I say ? Fanatical about fishing. Lure, Sea, game, carp, predator. This week , Chub from the Swale. Caught about 15 on a small plug , within a mad hour. Took 5 hours roaming to find them though. And yesterday , 4 Pike from Cudmore, on lures, very slow retrieve along the bottom. This morning , a rare blank. First time on the Calder near Cooper bridge, Big pike followed my lure, but turned away. Just joined Bradford No 1, for some New waters, also a member of Bay Malton in Cheshire.

if you still looking mate, try the Norfolk broads theres some huge zander in there mate, i had a few out when i went a couple years ago, saw a near british record come out aswell, i caught all mine on small deadbaits (roach, rudd) small baits like that, luring is also good but, isnt the most effective method for these although you wont catch loads of zander you seem to catch the bigger one, ( so long as you dont keep catching the pike lol!

I reckon the trent is as good as it gets for us northerners!

Chief and myself keep talking about having a go for them.
