Hair rigs for the beginner!

Hair rigs:
Hair rigs were designed for carp fishing to try and fool the fish in to taking the bait without thinking the hook is there.
The idea is that a carp sucks in the bait, and when they feel the hook and try and eject the bait, they become instantly hooked.
How to tie the knotless knot that forms the hair rig:
1. Tie an overhand knot at the end of your hook link, this should form a small loop (or big depending on the size of loop you want)
2. Pass the other end of the hook link through the eye of a hook (allow around 30mm from the end of the loop to the shank (bend) of the hook, for the hair.
3. Take the end of the hook link that went through the hook eye and wrap it around the shank of the hook 6 times, then thread it through the eye of the hook again (the line must go through the back of the hook).
4. Pull the two ends tight, you should now have a successful looking hair rig.
The bait is threaded on to that loop using a baiting needle
How to use a baiting needle:
Firstly, thread your bait onto the needle and a little way down the "stem".
You then use the little hook on the end of the needle which you grab onto the loop in the hair rig with.
Next, thread your bait onto the loop and put a boilie stop (pick one off the frame) through the end of the loop to secure the bait
There are endless variations of this theme but this is the easiest and the one I use. Remember, "keep it simple". Once you are confident with this method try one of the others and see how you go!
Hope this helps you new guys and a few of you older guys who have trouble with the Knotless knot!

Took me a few attempts to get mine right, but now they are absolutely spot on, saves you a fortune, the costings for my rigs are about 60p to buy this spec in the shop costs about £2.50 each. Well worth making your own.

yes it much better to make them yourselfs i was shown this version of the d rig by my good friend keith moores heres how to make it sorry for the pics being a bit out of focus but i think you will be able to see it .
STAGE 1
although you use what you want but this is what is required

STAGE 2
for this just so you can see what i,ve done i,ve used magic marker line
the first thing to do is tie a 3 turn grinner on the shank of the hook i like to tie mine level with the point

STAGE 3
next take a ring and thread it on to the line

STAGE 4
first form a d on the shank of the hook ,now tie a knotless knot and pass the line back through the eye you now have the d formed with the ring on it

STAGE 5
now attach a swivel on the the end of the line at the required length of your rig

STAGE 6
now to attach your bait to the ring i use rubber pellet band just pass it through the ring and back through itself i like these because they stretch i can attach more than one bait at a time or a larger bait or smaller due to the band being stretchy .

here is the finish rig ,very simple to tie but very effective indeed i like to tie this up with flouro carbon hooklink

Gardiner also do a get knotted tool which will help with the tying of the loop on the hair rig ... great tool once you know how to use it!!! 
I tie all my own rigs as you can personalise them, plus I always find that bought rigs have too long a hair for my personal preference!

If you have a rig blow out there is one person to blame. When you know what your doing it’s so easy and a dam site cheaper. Also you have the hair the right length for you bait.

Its the easiest "knott" to tie, They're such a useful way of presenting almost any bait.
Im yet to try it,but will sometime try a hair rigged length of lamprey,or mackerel chunk. not sure what hook setup to use,but I'll have a read around.

Mick Brown uses this on a single hook for pike.
