First proper attempt at Groundbait, please advise
Ok ive finally gone and done it, ive taken the tentative steps towards buying groundbait.
I have bought
premixed hemp and maize mix (1kg)
Brown breadcrumb (900g)
I plan to blend down some dried cat biscuits to add to it too
Also I have some frozen sweetcorn in the freezer which I could add too,
How do I go about mixing it and how should I present it (method feeder or open ended feeder etc) Hook bait will be luncheon meat of varying flavours and colours.
Also if there are any other home food cupboard contents that are worth adding please say.
Thanks in anticipation (you can laugh at me if you wish lol)
PS:- Target species, Carp, Bream, Tench and Perch as that is supposedly the most common in the lake I fish.

You can add a bit of meat into it also another good few additives from the cupboard are
tuna
Spam
Salt
Curry powder/chilli powder
Not every household has this but birdseed (boiled correctly)

Cool, Should I mix it all together or do individual mixes?
Ive ground down the cat biscuits now so that ready to go in the mix so I have
Cat biscuit
Bread crumb
Hemp and maize premix
Curry powder is in the hook bait (luncheon meat), How much salt should I use?
Also what method to get the groundbait out there? Method feeder or open ended feeder?

I personally would add all the dry ingredients together and mix wet ingredients on the bank. As for salt you can never realy over do it id say a good half dozen tablespoons to your mix, as for feeding it id make the mix up on the bank and see how it moulds against the method. I think you would probably be better with it in the cage though since its mainly a crumb mix but thats my personal opinion mate, Best thing to do on a serious note is have a play with both method and cage and see which u prefer.

Salt is great along with Milk. Two things I always add are the liquid from tinned sweetcorn and also from hemp seed

I think a lot of it is trial and error, the fish will tell you when you get it right, you will also find that some mixes atract Tench and Bream and some will atract only Carp so make a note of what you use when you make the mix, one of them will be a winning formula
