soil as groundbait?
Hello Lads,
i hope i haven't discussed already on another thread but using bank-side soil to bind loose feed seems to be saving the day a lot lately.
i must say i only ever really do it when:
a) knock my GB into the water
b) mess up my pellet mix
c) forget something
it especially seems to get the crucians going when nothing else will, i suppose it must be the cloud attracting them to a spot where they think other fish are feeding?

Re: soil as groundbait?
low food content for a start especally in winter. its natural smell gives off good signals. the dirty cloud it gives off looks like feeding fish and it can get loose feed straight to the bottom before breaking up. just my views

loving the idea of this i have spent 2hrs today trying to hunt liquid molasses in bulk with no sucess! do you use it for method feeding or do you launch it with a catapult to get the fish to investigate?

Re: soil as groundbait?
Like the idea, makes sense.
When it got really cold last winter I was kicking up the bottom and raking and all sorts to try and get a bit of a cloud up to try to convince the fish that there were others feeding. Fish are always more likely to feed when others are but in the winter it can be tough to get that first one feeding. This could be a little trick to stop you needing that first fish..
