Zander record

I've just read that the Zander record has been broken. 22lbs if true, from Grafham reservoir.

people ere saying that was going to turn the next big one up would like a pick of that bad boy

Not confirmed as yet of course.

Just got some good trusted info. the fish was not as big as stated, it was caught from a boat and probably wont be accepted.

Kevin AKA tackle tart AKA Mr. Z has just text me and he said he has seen the photo and it looks more 17lb than 20lb and it was weighed in the boat so will not stand

"Michael Dollan, from Walsall, West Midlands, fishing with his wife Jane, visited Grafham Water for the first time on Saturday 7 November. On the advice of top predator angler Mick Brown from Market Deeping, Michael fished mackerel dead bait in 46 feet of water at the dam tower. Michael, having just landed a 4lb trout, twitched his other rod and experienced a vicious take followed by a tremendous fight, which resulted in Michael catching his first Zander. Amazingly this turned out to be a record breaking Zander of 22lb. When Michael weighed the specimen the scales fluctuated between 22 and 23lb but he was happy to settle for 22lb. At the present time Michael is waiting to see if this Zander will be classed as a new British record. All of the Fisheries team at Anglian Water pass on huge congratulations to Michael for this amazing achievement - it's no secret that Grafham Water has some huge specimen Zander."

Hi Everyone.
I was pike fishing at Grafham.
and caught the BIG 22lb Zander.
I am only a pleasure angler, and wasnt aware of the significance of my catch until the end of the day.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN OR CAUGHT A ZANDER BEFORE!!!!
There were 3 anglers who saw me catch it.
I was naieve holding her under the belly. But i am an honest angler and put myself in the hands of the record fish committee. Anyone who would like anymore info please P.M me.

Michael seems a genuine lad,but...the fish was weighed on the boat,which therefore negates it as being classed as a record, as they have to be weighed on dry land

Theres a picture of Mark Barrett with a 17lb'er, which makes this one look like a lot smaller
Cracking fish regardless of the weight, makes me a bit moist

mine weighed 24lb but i just didn't say owt about it



that don't even look 17lb IMO but thats just my opinion i'd give him 15lb
