Rapala X Rap Shad
Just thought I would do a quick write up on a lure which over the last two seasons has caught me literally hundreds of pike and perch.
In 6cm this lure has outfished every lure in the box, it literally is cheating, I had all my fish on the river the other week on number 4. The lure has a good rattle chamber and has a foil flash built into its body, the white or red tail flash also seems to make a big difference to its fish catching potensial.
The good think about the lure is that if you use a heavy enough trace the lure has a very slow sink which means you can cast and work it at almost any depth, but trolling is where it has been awesome. The lure trolls down to about 22ft with 40 yards of line out the back of the boat with a boat speed of 2.5mph.
On my first day pike and perch fishing on the rivers when they re-open, I will take a picture of every fish that falls to it just to show how deadly a lure it really is
Here is the promo of the lure on youtube which will show you how it works underwater

Re: Rapala X Rap Shad
the one colour the really prouces for me is the goldfish..i think this is due to the heavily peat stained waters in my area.

Re: Rapala X Rap Shad
Depends how seriously you want to get into it Jimmy, what type of lures you will be using and the venues you want to fish. I have 8 lure rods and all have a situation that they are perfect for, so there are not many rods that cover all the bases if you see what I mean

Re: Rapala X Rap Shad
The general rule of thumb is large lures, large pike so you will be needing a jerkbait outfit matched with a multiplier with 80lb braid (Similar to my spodding outfit ) I will keep my eyes open for you pal, there is always something that comes up
