Tying a pop-up to a D-ring
as requested
Tying a pop-up to a D-ring is sometimes necessary when using pop-ups which lose their buoyancy if pierced with a baiting needle.
This can be done with bait floss or even dental floss (try to stay of the mint one)
1 Take about 4 inches of Bait Floss from the spool and form an overhand loop
2 Now form another smaller overhand loop inside that and pass the tag end through both
3 Tighten the smaller loop to form a knot this will now have formed a slip knot with the bigger loop
4Place your chosen pop up inside to loop and slowly tighten it down until it grips the bait, then tighten it fully making sure it tightens down into the pop up. If the pop ups your using are not soft enough for this to happen I find it helps to make a small groove in the pop up for the bait floss to sit in.
5 now do 2 or 3 over hand knots and blob off with a lighter this takes a bit of practice like all theses things but is 2nd nature after you have done your first 100.

Re: Tying a pop-up to a D-ring
almost exactly the way I do mine...
I loop as you do,, then a few grannies and blob then tie to the D ring.
works a treat
"harder" with cold hands though...

Re: Tying a pop-up to a D-ring
water ingression on a lot of boilies will make them not pop up as effictively if pierced (normal style)
best used only longer sessions or deeper water....
you can guarantee the boyancy this way...

Re: Tying a pop-up to a D-ring
Also ryan once a bait has been submerged for some time it expands and tightens around your bait floss so your almost guaranteed to get your bait back

no because its just a score and the floss goes into it, its when you go all the way through it it swells up they all take on water but this is a good one for long session, on a day session i run a needle through them but on a chod rigs and if i was doing 24hrs then put then on with the floss

Re: Tying a pop-up to a D-ring
"D" rig is by far my preferd rig a little tricky to make for newbies it's a rig tying skill which you can only develop with time as getting the knot on the hook can be tricky for some
