Perch Livies
Right I am planning to hit into some big perch this season on the rivers - the water i am hoping to target has bleak, roach, minnows, chublets, dace and gudgeon in it.
If you could choose from the above to use as livebait for big perch which would be you're no.1 choice (presuming i can catch a few in the first place!)
I like gudgeon myself, but have probs catching them these days (are they on the decline or something?)

Re: Perch Livies
I would use roach or minnows, these would be the easiest to catch in my opinion

Gudgeon were always a good one for me but there not in the quantities they used to be.
Had a far few on minnows but also the jack pike seem to love them.

How long do you leave a minnow trap for? Saves fishing for them

Re: Perch Livies
Any fish you can catch is a good livebait for Perch, try to step up the size of bait you thought would be good and think 4-6" baits for better fish. You will be amazed at the size of bait these big Perch (3lb+). A 2lb Perch will take a 6" bait with no problems, yes you will attract more Pike but it was also pick out the larger Perch.
