talking traces
during pete fosters talk last week he spoke about traces and the kind he uses, he said up to a couple of years ago he'd been using traces with one treble on the end and a large single hook further up the trace. fox do a ready made one called the uni rig, i tried this on saturday and as pete said my hook up was from the single in the scissors and the treble was loose in he mouth. i only got the one run on that rod so didnt get chance to compare but it was said that this happens all the time.
pete has now moved to a free moving second treble rig, he attaches the end treble as normal then just puts a crimp and bead at the min distance he wants the second treble and leaves it loose.
he has also now moved to titanium for his dead/livebait traces, and has used the same trace for the whole season just replacing hooks as and when.
anyone have any comments on these ideas and what rigs do you guys use on your traces.

traces etc
Hi Chief
Well if you have read my deabait post you will see i have been looking at my traces with a view to finding a wire that is less prone to kinks or just accepting i must change my trace as soon as there is any sign of a kink - which is happening quite often [just about every run]
- you will see that noodle made a recomendation;
As a result i will be looking at all the wire options the next time i get the chance - interesting to hear what people suggest. I wonder what the sacrifice is of using titanium because if it lasts all season it would obviously well worth paying for all other things being equal.
I havent made my own traces - i bought a few from an e-bay seller - they all have a floating second hook - do you know why he puts the crimp and bead on the trace my second hooks are just loose and i was wondering if this had any adverse effects?

.over the wire kinking what wire test are you using im on 40lb carbo flex 28lb and 50lb seven strand and the only one i can say gets beaten up quickly is the 28lb seven strand just up the wire strength if youre concerned about durability it wont put the pike off

Re: talking traces
Lets face facts lads, making traces is a pain in the ar5e so anything that limits this, can only be for the better. Drennan brought out some titanium trace wire a while back and I was onto it in a second and it was terrable, broke over and over again, not on the strike but while playing and unhooking the Pike. There are some titanium wires now available and the best way to do it is to put split rings from wire to hook, this way you can change the hooks and use the same wire all season.

Re: talking traces
ye woody pete said to avoid the drennan stuff, he's using some from nevilles shop now says its the muts. think is "the tackle shop" theres a link on the pac website.
as woody says its a matter of time and effort. why does the second treble HAVE to be fixed? its just the way its always been done and what advantage does it actually give
