Post by healdy Mon Jan 18, 2010 5:31 pm

Hi guys

I am considering joining the PAC and then hopefully attend some of the local meetings [wakefield]

How many members on here are members - who has attended meetings in the past?

any thoughts on PAC membership and the meetings appreciated.

If you join the Pac, you can fish Fairburn for £10 a year Wink

I've only heard good things about the PAC, doing their bit to end the days of old 'bash the pike' mentality which is so outdated and unnecessary in my opinion.

I've not done the PAC website trawl fully but it all looks like a well run club with good intentions. Genuinely care about the sport and dedicate a lot of time to raise awareness in the handling and well-being of the fish.

I know there are a few members on here and I'm sure they'll be on to advise the quality of the talks and maybe a bit of info on the waters they offer rights on.

The website is http://www.pacgb.co.uk/

Joining the PAC can only be a good thing for Pike fishing and the Pikes welfare, we are talking about the fish that gets abused more than any other fish in our waters, sad fact but true.

The PAC has other advantages like privileged access to trout waters, a quarterly magazine and club outings. Peter Green (Mark Greens dad) runs the Wakefield region, a nicer guy you will struggle to meet and the region is very well run. I have been to a number talks at a number of regions and they are all worth a visit. Union Jack

i would deffinatly recommend it mate, as woody said wakefield is a well run region. i have been going to the selby region meets as it was mark (and woody) who got me involved. as said you can fish fairburn for a tenner and the talks are very informative, next month we're hoping to have some bloke called mason whos gonna waffle on about how he catches a few jacks on his big S plugs Wink

Sheffield pike angler Pete Foster will be presenting the Selby PAC Region with a talk/Slideshow on Thursday 21st January.

Venue Details

The Crown Inn Public House
Main Street
Hemingbrough
Selby
North Yorkshire

just to add the pac does lots to try and teach and educate other anglers about pike. the mag is just about worth the joining fee so give it a shot

do you have to join a certian region to fish fairburn? i'm sure i read in thier mag that some of the local lads were complaining that other regions had rights to thier local waters but they couldn't fish it themselves? i could be wrong and probably am but i'm sure i read something like that somewhere

no you dont have to be a member of a certain region to join fairburn, anyone can join even non pac members. the pac have created a region just for fairbun as a club like, called the aire valley region.

its a shame you cant make thursday healdy i could have got mark to bring your pass and you could have been on this weekend. im gonna be!!
