My Bait : GETTING OUT IF AND WHEN POSSIBLE...
Re: Customised Fox Indicators
well a few lads asked if i could show them how i made my drop offs and of course i am more than happy to help so here goes.....
you will need a weight, a main body, a line clip and some form of stem
the weight i got from an old cheap bobbin, the one's with the bath plug chain are cheap and come apart easily
the main body i used is a highlight felt and is only about an inch n half long
the line clip i bought for £3 for a pack of two
the stem is plastic coated metal i've seen wire coat hangers that work well for this
firstly remove the the weight from the chain, then remove the tip from the felt pen
once you have cut the stem/wire coat hanger to size slide the weight onto it. i then slide some shrink tubing or something similar onto the stem. this prevents the stem sliding back out of the main body. on the other end of the stem i atatch a snap swivel using shrink tubing
the snap swivel makes it easy to atatch and remove from the bankstick.
the next step is to drill holes in the main body to accomadate the line clip and weight
i needed a 4.5mm drill bit for the line clip and an 8.5 for the weight
i was thinking if you didn't have a weight but had the same felts/mainbody as me you could put the clip in the opposite end of the body to me and it would still look quite proffesional
but if you have all the things i have then it should look like this
once it is all put together the finished drop off is neat, tidy, practical and very cheap
i chose the colours i did because my alarms have lights in those colours on them but it doesn't really matter what colour they are.
i also think these are worth buying at £1 each
you can buy them at the pound shop simply atatch the drop off to the pin on the alarm using the snap swivel. when you get a take and the dropp off falls, it pulls down on the pin and creates a very high pitch sound
they are not top quality but at a pound you can afford a few. buy some spare batteries too as they don't seem to last for very long and i would advise you still use the front alarm
so lads i hope you find this usefull. follow the simple steps and you could have your very own sounding drop offs and not just 1 but 2 or 3 for less than a tenner.
if you don't want to make them or need a quick remady untill you get round to it then you could try this
its simply a regular carp bobbin atatched to the rear bankstick. i had to use this at the new year as i only had two drop offs and was using 3 rods on alarms at times and that was the rod i got a take on so i can say it deffinatly works.
good luck lads have fun desinging or customizing your own bits n pieces.
i think we could make a sticky out of this subject where we could all add a few tips n tricks on making and addapting tackle to suite our needs. i know i have a few more things i could do

cheers nidge and stotty i'm touched its a sticky its as much gordons post as mine and thats what made me think we could all post a few little tips n hints. it mite be best renaming it to something more open to other subjects than just drop offs. i'm sure most lads will have a trick or two to share and in time it could be a good collection for the future members to get to see.

Re: Customised Fox Indicators
another good tip lads, instead of buying bait stops, get some old bike innertube and cut into as many squares of what size you like, you can save a few quid.....
