The price of fish !!!!
I thought I'd stock up with bait, I'm off work all next week
Popped into S.A.S. and Steve Younger did me a good deal with some smelt and I went to a local fish merchant for some mackeril........£3.69 EACH for the mangiest looking frozen specimens you ever did see :!: So I politely declined
Is this general ? Are other members having the same problem ?

Re: The price of fish !!!!
My baits, I normally get them out of the water I’m fishing If posable.if not it’s the fish counter at Tescos. But yes mackeril prices have gone through the roof i was shocked by it this year as i had a load in stock from when i went mackeril fishing this year. When they ran out i was gob smacked by the price. Try Herring they work well as a dead bait and not a bad price

The price of bait is a joke at the moment and the supermarkets dont tend to have many fish in, but what they do have I will be buying because I have just been given a chest Freezer

Yep a bait freezer is a must if you fish as much as I do when my one broke last Christmas I lost a lot of bait I had over £200 of boilies in there and £50 of dead baits and loads of frozen particle I didn’t relies as it was in the garage when I opened it up the smell was something that could take your breath away. But a look through the local paper got me another one and were back in business

Re: The price of fish !!!!
no mate as stotty has said, freeze them first then hook them up still frozen. they hold on the cast and de-frost very quickly once in the water and the hooks pull out very easily.

https://ukfishingforums.darkbb.com/general-fishing-talk-f1/wanna-buy-mirror-carp-to-eat-t3357.htm?highlight=selling+carp
I sort of see this as Ok as these are farmed fish farmed for the table so better than them coming out of my club lake or river. It the whole carp and Christmas thing it’s a traditional polish Christmas dish.
