Spot on this fish also came out of a heavily weeded lake at range on a single fluro pink pop up.

Re: The Chod Rig
Well I was shown the rig 2 years ago by Jerry Hammond he sat down showed it to me and I caught that fish above on it the first time I used it. It’s having confidence to try new things. I think we get stuck in our ways as anglers and we also follow trends like sheep the Korda DVD comes out and every one gets on the KD rig every bugger start spodding and putting Tuna in there mix. Some times it pays to do something different some times it pays to go with the flow.
It all comes with experience. Don’t get me wrong I still sit there some times and think is that the right rig, right bait, right spot. Ok I admit it’s not as bad as it was I can sit on my hands for ages but you still get it every now and then. I also think you can never stop learning as I say I am no expert just a passionate angler I do enough fishing to, I think comment on these things and I love the sport so much I get just as much enjoyment out of seeing others catch this day and age .

Re: The Chod Rig
I have a problem with some rigs. I have little confidence with the Chod, and even less with the Zig. But I have no problem with inline leads, running rigs, or the shortest possible hook links. Anyone care to share their fellings about rigs?

I have caught on them all I think they all have there place.
If fish are mid water or even on the top a zig is the tool as for the Chod I would only use it if it was a silty or weedy lake I think a pop up can be more of a danger sign some times.
But saying that I have caught lads of fish on the chod and it’s something I use to this day and will use again when it is needed.
The problem is a lot of lads see it in the mags then think great Terry’s using it and catching huge fish I must get on it. The problem is there fishing it on the wrong lakes.
I was very lucky a few years back to fish my old syndicate I had caught most of the big fish and it gave me time to experiment with other rigs like the Zig when you start to catch on them it takes that uneasy feeling away. It’s having the balls to put that rig out and sit there thinking yes that will catch.

Re: The Chod Rig
The reason i'm choosing the chod is i'm on welham again friday, last time i was there i was playing around with some rig presentations in the margins and discovered that my usual running rig seemed to be sinking into the silt.So hopefully this will help in keeping the bait on top

Re: The Chod Rig
last year i went through a spell where everyfish i caught was off a chod i landed 65 fish before one hookpull, if you set this rig up propa then it is a veryy good rig. It also can work good for anglers which dont have loads of money to spend on bait, all you need is a bag of boilies and a chod with a pop up of your choice. Just sprend the boiles over a area you see the fish and then cast your rod and you should have them. A good little tip that my friend for nash told me is that try using freebie boilies with coulor like the nash scopex squid and red robin and then use a dark pop up.
