Poaching bastads
I was on the weir again all day yesterday,The pikeys all came down about 6pm ish, with their salmon rods, with lead core leaders and huge shrimp fly's. needless to say they bagged a monster within the first ten minutes, followed by 2 others whilst I was there.
Then a young lad turned up with his tatty ass carp rod, neolithic reel and line, which he purchased all for 15quid,had one cast in my swim with a flying c (salmon lure) the lure hit the water, one wind and he was into a fish, it lept the once before shooting off up river, then back down,he played it for a good ten minutes before managing to get it up the steps down river.
He wandered round to my side and showed me his capture...noone had scales, but even after he'd gutted it,it weighed well over 20lb easy. I got a couple of pictures, but it was too big to get the whole fish in the screen.
As above....POACHING ba****ds :!: :!:

Re: Poaching bastads
You and Myself, have never seen anything like it yesterday. To witness that right infront of me is unbelievable.
People fish all their life to catch a mighty salmon, and these guys, come along every evening, right thru the night, and take every fish they catch.
And even though,I too would like to catch one, just to see how it feels to play this amazing fish,I intend to put it back, which will baffle anyone else watching me at the time.
Im there again tomorrow, and will be taking some of my mepps and other shiny lures. Will be interesting if nowt else.

Northerners Danny, so not really ,Pikey gypo bastads. They're there every night, and must make a fortune, currently £3 per lb,so that 20,would be tidy earner for the 's

Re: Poaching bastads
Cant say I agree with poaching at all really, we pay our licences,be it fishing or shooting, and these c**ts,and they are c**ts,take the piss, and think they can do just whatever they like.
We had poachers on most our shooting estates, they too had the same mind set, they never came back, once we "talked" *koff* to them. The law seems more helpfull when guns and shooting are involved, but they dont give a monkeys with fishing for some reason

Re: Poaching bastads
russ i used to go out hunting 25+ years ago mate, ive had all the dogs you can think of for the sport, not just for the odd rabbiting
ive also had guns, before they brought all the laws in for doing such things, if a farmer/land owner gave me a call then i was there, easy money for the sunday afternoons drinking, selling the rabbits in the pub.......
