Imitation Bait
Imitation Bait
Well I know when you start carp fishing you can sit there thinking is this right is that right have I got the right bait. The wheels in your head are constantly turning. But as time goes on and confidence grows you will start to concentrate more on your surroundings and watching for the fish rather than worrying if I have done this right or that wrong.
Well that was a long winded start to Imitation Bait but I remember many years ago 6 could be more I bought some fake corn I thought to my self as I went out the shop what the hell am I going to catch on this a plastic fish.
The long and the short a few weeks later I pulled a 20lb mirror out of a lake on a single grain of it at that point a whole new world opened to me.

They are the U.K’s leading manufacturer of imitation baits and were the first to produce the now famous “Popup sweetcorn”.

endorsing there products. Frank has had some outstanding catches on there imitation baits.
I my self have had loads of fish over the years on the corn the pellets and of late the fake hemp
If you fish theses baits over a PVA back of a similar item it can be devastating.
So why use fake when you can use real? Well small fish tend to pick at your baits I remember many years ago using corn on the hair and bringing it in after 10 min of small bleeps on the rod to fined it totally missing same with the smaller pellets they just get picked off. As for hemp well what chance have you got of getting a good presentation on the hair with that?
One of my favourite tricks it tipping my baits with a single grain this fish
Came from the brown boilie rig below.
The range is growing and the ways in which you can use it are infinite so please give it a go.
I have even caught pike on it this one attacked the corn as I was reeling it in
More proof it works corn grub combo

My Bait : GETTING OUT IF AND WHEN POSSIBLE...
Re: Imitation Bait
Enterprise tackle has really become the leaders in imitation bait and i use them alot in my carp fishing with a good success rate i all way carry an arrray of the corn colours
[img][/img]
but now they have released the bait cage although not a totally a new idea as originally the bait cage was made to keep nuisance fish and crayfish from destroying your baits.
i think these will work very well and being made from clear soft plastic and being bouyant will make these very versatile to the thinking angler .
i,ve all ready started to experimenting with different contents in my tank to see how they react and what works and what does not i can,t wait to give them a proper work out to see if i can fool a carp or too
regards

Re: Imitation Bait
I favour the bob nudd aproach to pellets get the fish used to the kind and colour and then slip in the old potato and jusy add the colour all you need is a set of punches and gravy browning or green food dye .Fake pellets

Re: Imitation Bait
Great write up,
i'm thinking of using single boilie and single false sweetcorn, with real sweetcorn as ground bait mixed with boilie string.
Am i right in saying this time of year it is best to fish around my swim to attract the fish in,not necessarily around my hooklength
take care,
Brian
