lead systems Empty lead systems

There are two basic ways to set up your leads, either a fixed or a running with the fixed you have got in line or the lead clips this is the common one used by most anglers.
lead systems Lead-in-clip
As well as the many in line rig set ups we have running rigs we take a swivel type leads attach this to the main line using a run ring this is a running rigs.
Each has its own uses it may be best to think about the type of lake bed you’re fishing on. For instance, a fixed lead, in-particularly an in-line,
lead systems Gaffer02
would best suited on a hard bottom like gravel because the hook link has its full weight straight from the lead, so once the bait is picked up and the carp get pricked with the hook right away.
In the winter carp slow down their movements so a more sensitive bite indication will be required. So a running rig system would be best suited for this situation.

Running rigs also work better on very soft beds as you can still get indication of when the bait has been picked up. They can shake the hook if your lead is sitting jammed in the silt and you have no idea they have the bait in the mouth.
A helicopter system
lead systems Heli
may be best used in soft silt. This is because the way the lead and hook link are separate allows the lead to sink into the silt or weed without pulling your hook link down into it. It means the lead can be hidden in the silt or weed while the hook rests nicely on top of the silt or weed without tangles a derivation on this is the Chod rig

it use a modified helicopter rig ,by moving the top bead up the line ,this leaves the hook length free to float up the line and rest on top of soft silt /weeds etc

I will add to this I look through quite a few of the glossy mags Suspect (carp ones) and I see more and more complex rigs every month just remember this
Keep it simple the knotless knot has as still catches carp of all sizes and pin every thing down to the lake bed back leads lead core etc

Backleads are useful when you want to pin the line between rod and rig to the lake bed, so that carp are not likely to be spooked by either seeing or running into it. Also on days when you seem to be getting constant liners (carp moving over the line mid water) using a backlead can eliminate the problem

After casting and before tightening up slip the back lead onto your line and slide it down into the lake If you need to make direct contact with a fish as soon as possible, then using a backlead can be a disadvantage i.e snags

The way the flying back lead works is that when you cast, the lead catches the air and flies up the line away from your Carp rig.

When in the water the lead pins the line down close to your rig reducing the amount of line up in the water.
