Its quite time consuming really as theres lots of little fiddly processes, i get asked how long all the time and i have no idea really becuase i do them in small batches and as mentioned so many processes. Not quick enough to make it profitable really anyway, i do it mostly for the enjoyment, the smaller lures don't take as long as the bigger ones obviously

Everybody calls me Woody pal so that will do fine, and as for Neil, he is the little brother I never wanted Let me know when you have a few spare and I will meet up and have a session, I might take a few small plugs too, give them some stick trolling on the boat..what sort of depths do they run??

Yeah sounds good to me

The plugs are made for shallow flowing rivers so they don't go that deep, i use them mainly for targetting chub in pacey rivers and perch in shallow canals.

Not yet as most places i fish are shallow, will have to give it a go sometime, something else i have done that i didnt put photos up of is big swimbaits

right, so this is something im thinking about having a go at. mainly because now im getting into my big jerkbaits im struggling to find many, the tackle shops round here are dire. plus i can see it being enjoyable and rewarding.
so what im trying to find out for now is what sort of materials would i need. what sort of wood to use, since im looking at big lures to start with would i be better off making 2 halfs and sticking them together with a single piece of bent wire through the middle to conect the hooks to or getting eyelets (which im worried wont be held in strong enough) and what sort of paint and laquer would be best to use.
these are the main things im wanting to find out but any advice at all would be appreciated.

what sort of size are you after?

matt is the man to talk to if your wanting to build your own, or pm him and see if he's got any available. i know he's busy building them atm for crimbo, if you tell us what your after then im sure we can put you on to a few suppliers

chico has plenty of big stuff. they are all hand made and imported from the states though so naturally come at a premium.

yeah was gonna paick up a few of the ones of chicos, seen a few others i like the look of, deviators ect but not a great deal and they all look like im gonna have to get them off the internet. im after big ones for now, sort of 80g upwards.
i do quite fancy having a go at making my own tho. i thought id ask on here cos some of matts are awesome.
