Hi all
I am looking for some advice on fishing for cats, i am passing the river Ebro in Spain in October for 3 weeks caspe area.
The thing is I have 13ft 3lb Armalite rods will these be ok? I have Shimano Big Pit LC Bait runner reels which have 300yards 100lb 0.28mm briad will these be ok?
Not to sure on hooks size ? I have no boat, but do have a bait boat
Am I best to fish the bottom or float?

Any advice will be very welcome

Thanks in advance

well mr monsi, first of all, i would say those rods sound ok, secondly braid is what you want and also SHIMANO well the best reel make i know, and i would say pop to your local tackle shop and see what the biggest hook size they do is and make rigs with long hairs so you can fit at least ten 22mm halibut pellets on the hair mate,

hope this helps, many thanks

Hi i must say when your fishing for cats out there your in a different league. the rods people us are 12ft 5.5lb Test, Spod rods or boat rods. Also on sections of it you will need to row the baits out a bait boat will just get washed away they use up to 10oz of lead some times. a 13ft rood is to long IMO

Also dont get caught with out a Fishing licences they are required at all times while fishing in Spain. They are available at several local outlets, or you can order online. They are valid for periods ranging from one year to four years depending on how much you want to pay. The cost for one year is about Ten Pounds ish.

Bait well pellets are a very popular hook bait for both the carp and catfish. For the catfish, live baiting and dead baiting with eels, mullet is very often successful but i know now on parts of the river live baits have been made illigal so you need to check this
