Have any of you done much for sea species like bass mackeral etc with lures?

Im trying it this year and well Help please

got a good few six inch minnows storm shallow/big macs cheapo shakespere ones couple of walk the dog things
boomber a'salts

or am i better going smaller (loose the distance) or bigger slivers shallow raiders etc, i would imaginr that may cut down the potential for smaller species like mackeral

fairly local i have a good run of bass in the mersey and just up the coast at formby where a deepwater channel is usefull as you dont need a big chuck

I used to do a bit of sea fishing I had most of my bass on spun sand eels so try something in that pattern

Do they still make Rapala Sliver's? Suposed to be a sand eel coppy. Made off Odem wood if I remember rightly, why I have no idea.

they do ive got a couple of the largest size i kind of accidentaly bought them when i was buying my 1st few big lures as they looked good as an eel imitation and i think ive used them three maybe four times

usually when im putting the kettle on and im hoping that a take will not be forthcoming but am going to throw em at the bass in a few weeks

They seem to hold there money on eBay so I guess they must be half decent? Another that may be usefull is the old Windcheater minnow, cast like bullets, got to be good news fishing from the shore? There was a Bommer job too (finger mullet?) that lots of bass anglers used to rave about.

As I say all the ones I caught were on sand ells I didn’t know the joys of lure fishing in those days. I just know they love sand ells

ive got some bombers but the a'salts and all sinking

im just trying to use my pike/perch stuff to be honest and ive never really liked the rapalas or bombers the rapalas were to lightweight for want of a better word too easy to break and seeing as ive never even had a touch on a bomber that i own im thinking matbe i dont work them right which should'nt be hard to do with a crankbait

mm being thick just realised while im typing bass bullets and the eddystone plugs off to fleabay again

no chance of me ignoring anyone who can help thats more or less what i was thinking but any excuse for some new lures Cool Smoking

theres a few things im thinging about like will the bouyancy be adversly affected by the sea?
easy to counter though what about corrosion?

do i keep it simple with a straight retrieve or play like i would for pike perch?

and a few others all simple things ive taken for granted but with the change of water has got me thinking again
