Big small round square chopped ???
I was just wondering with the vast amount of different shapes sizes and flavors of baits where am i to start?
Im trying to catch any carp really, but i would like to target bigger carp about 10lb plus. I still do not want to rule out the fun of smaller carp but want to be sure i am feeding right to encourage decent feeding. I know some baits can be water specific i.e. location, lake prefrences, temp ect. My usual attack is pva mesh with hemp, sweetcorn, chopped, halved and whole boilie's 12mm with either a sweet groundbait or a halibut groundbait (just to take the liquid up).
I read a few articles that said carp can become fixated on smaller particles and ignore the bigger ones is this true?

ok first of all to target any size of carp make sure that they are there to target.
ie: ask the baliff and other anglers info on fish stock , and swim info some bigger carp become territorial .
as for baiting situation this can vary, me i start with a spread of bait half size of a tennis court to get them moving picking baits up on another rod id put i tight bed of bait out carp may respond better to 1 or the other if u use 3 rods try a single with a stringer on , there is loads of ways to go about baiting up its just finding the right method for your water.
try a bed of bait but fish your hook bait away from it about 1 or 2 rod lengths away theres always the chance of a bigger carp sat back waiting, 1 hook bait on its own may not look a threat to it (i use this alot too in my fishing and had some very good fish doing this) u can alway put a rod on the bed of bait too with that 1 away from it .
ive started using 2 or 3 differant flavours of baits and sizes on my spots this can give u an edge over other anglers alot of people use 1 bait in there fishing and i beilieve that carp get used to this and may back off , example: i fish for a bait company my baits i us is called kt30 ,, the nail ,, and the form , 2 of them baits are fruity baits and the other is a fish meal all differant flavour are coming off my swim and also differant colours of baits this will make it harder for the carp to reconise which bait its getting picked up on ( im not saying to go out and buy loads of differant baits ) its just somthing ive put in to my fishing over the last 12 month and done really well with .
try a snow man or a pop up the better fish may respond better to this , and most of all just keep your rigs simple my rigs are just the old knotless knot rig .
in the last 10 month ive put 6 yorkshire 30s on the bank and a bulk load of 20s and smaller carp on the bank too using these methods .
i hope in some way it helped u ..
good luck

Re: Big small round square chopped ???
it all depends on which lake im going on but i always take an xtra kilo just incase they are having some but round about 4 to 5 kilo for 48 hour i dont alway get through that much .
the BH1 is a very good bait ive had a kilo of that the other week to play around with as they have just change is a little to help with it digest better for the carp , but saying that the kt30 is a very good bait i had 2 cat fish last yr in 3 hours on this bait up to 40lb, it looks abit like cell but very fruity and its caught me a lot of carp the other 2 baits im using are test bait,,
