Frozen Lobworms
Hello All,
i know about collecting lobs off the grass etc. at night but there is nowhere near me to do that.
i tried to collect lobworms during excavations at work and keep them in a wormery at home. however this never really worked as the shock of the JCB and transportation etc seemed to kill them. a lot of them were damaged during JCB machining anyway. now i like to use purchased dendro's or my own home-kept brandlings on the hook. what i want to know is if it would be worth collecting all these free damaged lobs from work, chopping them, mixing them with robin red (or similar) and freezing the mix in pots to use as loose feed or in a feeder.
should work shouldn't it?
cheers

Re: Frozen Lobworms
Not heard of anyone trying this before, but I can't see any reason for it not to work. Only one way to find out, Give it a go. And let us know what the outcome is.

Re: Frozen Lobworms
What do you use chopped lugs for stotty, mullet? pier fishing? i went bream fishing off poole in shallow water in May and came away thinking that a heavy feeder full of chervey (sp?) or a lead wrapped in halibut paste would have worked kept them around the boat better. just bought a 15lb class ugly stik for my drift bassing but havent used it yet. the ron thompson boat rod had to go mate.

Re: Frozen Lobworms
well i tested my frozen lobworms today on Burton Mutual's Tench Pool and they seemed to work well, given the fact that i appeared to be the only person targeting Tench to catch any (just two to 2.5lbs) in not the best conditions. Good news is that they dont seem to degrade from being frozen. i used them chopped and if anything they seemed to be tougher on the hook. i didnt try hooking a whole one (which i will test next time), if that stays on the hook i might reconsider the amount of i spend tending the wormery and just collect and freeze while collecting a few live in case they want something that wriggles.
