Rigs for pop ups Empty Rigs for pop ups

Post by Mr_Blank Fri Nov 12, 2010 5:43 pm

As I am reasonably new to carp fishing and tying my own rigs, I have little experience in setting up the correct rigs for a pop up bait. I'd like to use the helicopter rig or a variant however I'm missing some important info to get it spot on.

Being inexperienced, I'm not willing to try leadcore or leaders yet, so all I am armed with is rig tube or just plain mono line.

Both times I have attempted the heli rig, I used just the line with very fine bore beads. However on the cast I kept losing the top bead up the line pissed off

I'd like to give it a go using rig tubing but im unsure of how big the bead needs to be to make the rig safe. I know that the top bead will take a little more force to come off like this and just wanted some advice on setting up the heli rig properly with rig tubing.

Cheers guys

Ben

Hi Ben you have two ways of making a helicopter rig with rig tubing. what you after is a Chod rig of such....

put your tube on the line then steam shrink a piece of tubing on the tubing about half way up(depending on how choddy it is) then place a 4mm bead on there.

Next

Solar do a "ready to go" helicopter rig with tubing.
