the rotton rig
well just been looking at the other rigs on here and carnt find this one so heres the ROTTON RIG
the pic explains most of how the rig works its very good in weedy areas and rocky areas.
if fishing at range with it, it is good to use pva string tied from the lead to the swivel on the leadcore end, this just stops the lite mono snaping on the cast.
when you hook a fish the lite mono will snap and the lead will drop off with this the fish will come up to the surface away from the weed beds .
i never had a problem with this rig and it is safe to use if allowed leadcore on your water.

Re: the rotton rig
id just like to add, this rig (with a tweak) is also a good one for pike fishing over rocks. swap out the leadcore for an uptrace and add and extra crimp to stop the bead and trace going too far up the uptrace. just bear in mind the angle you have the rod at as if its too low its counter productive and your hooks will probably snag on said rocks. or alternatively couple it with a float to keep a bait semi-static in a good flow or to keep a livebait from wandering off. its not a rig i use very often but it does have its uses. even if you dont get a bite is still a good chance youll end up leaving a baited trace down there should your lead snag in rocks with a more conventional running ledger rig
