wild bird seed mix from the £ shop
Hello, ive seen bags of wild bird seed on display in the pound shop. if this is cooked thoroughly would it be OK to use as a particle-mix? unfortunately the specific contents are not listed but is there anything i should look out for that could be bad for the fish? has anyone else tried this?
cheers

Re: wild bird seed mix from the £ shop
I go to my local pet store for particles.
They do barrels of pigeon conditioner and hemp that you can scoop into bags the amount you need:

They're nationwide, dunno if one happens to be near you?
If not, most pet food superstores should stock pigeon conditioner. Might be cheaper...

Re: wild bird seed mix from the £ shop
I know the feeling Rich,
If you can get to a pet shop, just have a look £5 a kilo is about the going rate for pellets and £10 a kilo for boilies.
so, a mix of the 2 would be around £7.50 per kilo...
With websites like this:
http://www.gardenfeathers.co.uk/haiths-red-band-pigeon-conditioner_p334.aspx
You can get 10kg particles for the price of 1kg pellet/boilies
10:1 ratio means I know what's kinder on the wallet...
I use this site as a guide for price as their delivery charges may be quite high due to weight
this one does 20kg for £16
http://www.equipetable.co.uk/buckton-pigeon-conditioner.html
There's no competition if you want to get cheap feed in, go for the particle mix!
Just make sure it's properly prepared before it goes in the lake

Edd said it to be honest but a good rule to go for is most particles I soak for Minimum 24 hours and then boil for 10-15 minutes minimum that normally sorts them out
