its a brilliant and fantastic way of fishing for carp and it really get the adrenalin going when them carp are slowly taking your free offering then your hook bait.
although i have no pics of rigs i use one of the fox in line clear bubble floats with my 6 ft rig fished behind it this is normally 8lb breaking strain.
i am sure stotty or some of the others will post up some pics for you and there style of floater fishing and a few handy tips to help you.
when i floater fish i like to get them going on little 3mm floating pellets first then introduce other offerings your hook bait can be what ever you like but the most common choice is the chum mixer but there are plenty of other choices as well apart from the mixer .
let the carp get confident first before you introduce your bait or you might spook them once you got them going cast beyond your freebies and slowly draw your bait back into them very slowly and then wait .
it pays like bottom fishing for carp to give them different freebies i also mix a few go cat biscuits which has loads of different shape and i will colour and flavour mixers aswell this just help to stop the carp from finding out which one is the hook bait and the flavour just add extra attraction .
i like to also use a piece of cork as the hook bait

but if they are really wary try a zig just under the surface

kevin

Good info as usual Kevin. In the past I have used small pop ups and even flavour cork balls I soak them in glug for months it is predominantly a summer tactic but if the fish are feeding close to the surface it can work in the colder months. As for controller floats I haven’t used one for years I started using one of theses and have never gone back.

Carp Controller rigs............... Gardenercontrollerfloats_sml

The Gardener Flatliner Controller Floats are designed to lie flat on the surface as opposed to being "cocked" like a float, yet will give the option of either presentation and have many advantages over other controllers

and i have used this a lot

Nash Bolt Machine
Use the Bolt Machine for short to medium distance fishing where its concave nose enhances bolt effect. The Long and the Extreme versions enable you to cast fl oaters at distances where, up until now, the carp have been able to feed confidently, avoiding capture.
