Help With Pellets Empty Help With Pellets

Post by Mick Sun Apr 06, 2008 6:26 am

Right lads I have a load of pellets that I have put in a big tub and mixed together, they are all different sizes and flavours. Some of them are a couple of years old and it seems a shame to waste. What would be the best way to prepare them and use.

When I used them for coarse fishing, I used to pump them in a pellet pump but if I did that now it would melt the pva bags.

So come on lads get your thinking caps on.

Cheers Mick

well firstly mick as soon as you said they are a couple of years old my personal opinion would be to throw them away due to pellets contain oils and these go RACID

my advise would be get some fresh ones and start again

first of all Mick i find that if you buy 3 bags of different sized pellets best thing to do is not just throw them all in the bucket because they have different break down rates...

For instance you buy a bag's of 10mm, 5mm, 3mm pellets

i would add say

10% 10mm
30% 5mm
60% 3mm

you see the smaller 3mm pellets will break down first leaving particles then the 5mm pellets and it's these 2 sizes of pellets are which keep the fish intrigued and when they stumble across you 10mm pellets which have broken down partially thats what keeps the fish in the swim !

Hey Mick, If the pellets have gone rancid you could throw them in the next swim and force all the fish into yours! LMAO

I mix the sizes all the time but if you use a catapult to get your bait out keep them separate as they all catapult at different distances so you get a huge spread and only a few of one size hits your area if you are using them as a feed in pva I say mix them up but as the lads say don’t use them if there to old
