what is this rod for?

Post by richcherr on Fri Oct 09, 2009 8:56 am

Hello all,

ive just been given an Abu Garcia Enticer Match 10ft rod (reel lines 2-6lb). i assumed it was a quiver tip rod but it isnt. Abu describe it as a powerful through action blank. i need to pay to get it repaired, could anyone tell me what sort of situations, methods, species would best suit this rod before i pay for the repair?

thanks

hello Dan,

sorry but ive only just started up again mate. when i think of match fishing i think of pulling silvers out on waggler, but this seems to be pretty beefy for that, its looks a bit like the stalking rods ive just brought and not much like a float rod. its also got no fitting for tips. is it just that rod companys call a lot of things 'match'?

If there is no thread in the tip ring, I'd say it's a spinning rod as Kevin has stated. But then again 2-6lb line? maybe not. Bit of a teaser this one . lol.
