Hello Lads,

I'm off to Poole for a bit of Black Bream fishing from a boat next week. given the small size of these fish ive always been told to use by coarse gear but i would like to use my new 12-15lb class rod, would this be too stiff? other options are to use one of my avon rods or a heavy quiver tip set-up. any ideas?

cheers

Always use the lightest outfit you can. In shallow water, with little run of tide, this may be a great excuse to fish with a spinning rod or light carp set up, whereas in deeper water, this may have to be stepped up to a 6, 8, 10, or 12lb class outfit, but always choose the lightest and this will increase the fight and aid more sensitive bite detection.
Best of luck with it,its a great part of the country to get out sea fishing.

Best of luck with the bream hunt ,on light tackle we have very good results using shrimp rigs with very small strips of mackie ,but go get them mate with whatever the skip tells you .
