sand eels are they a good pike bait
are they any good as a bait ive picked a pack up from the tackle shop but whats the best way of fishing them and hooking them

There only a small soft bait Craig so it may be worth making a single hook rig for them and fish it tail hooked, there has been some big pike caught on sandeels so there worth a go

oaklands..... and it was a tip i received of a top bloke try sand ells... never got round to it, but i can see it happening saturday...

Actually its not that mad of an idea
But just a tip for you Craig, dont get obsessed by baits. Pike have been caught on sausages in the past which shows there not at all picky, if they are feeding and they pass your bait they will pick it up

to be honest mate its the first time ive seen them in the tackle shop so i got some of them and lamprey cos i knew dean had caught on lamprey and on that yf day the lad who caught was using lamprey so i fought the sand eels was simalar to lamprey but smaller versions enough to tempt a jack im not fussed about gettig a big fish i just want to get 1 before i go grey and straight jacket mad

seriously they ar edecent baits well suited for really long range stuff and normal fishing as well
sand eel does not taste nice even when cooked with a bit of garlic butter, which usually sorts anything out
i did worry you had picked up the wee tiny ones you can get
they sound more like launce again another decent bait
