i am definatly trying this at oaklands it looks brilliant, three pieces of bread punched out to the size of 5 pence pieces and then threaded onto the hair on a pop up or d rig, it was in angling times a few weeks back and looked good, it was a steve ringer piece he also dyes the bread different colours. The bread swells up and floats and as soon as a fish touches it the bread explodes in front of its eyes.

i dont think there are too many small fish in the specimen pond mate that was my reasoning behind it and if i can get into the same spot every time i fancy it, im just trying to use different tactics rather than sitting on the old boilies all day, not that it isnt effective but with fly fishing i have four or five different methods and patterns i feel confident with but with the carping at the minute i feel very one dimensional so im trying to give myself a few different options and a few different tactics to work with, i cant wait till summer i have all sorts of s**t planned Muhahaha although will probably need a summer tribal suit

i used to to that hair rig bread a few years ago. i read that fish can be tricked into thinking baits are natural if they see a lot of it and will be very confident in taking it. so i used it on a venue that got hammered by dog walkers and joggers and where you get them you get people feeding ducks. this place always had people feeding ducks and it worked very well. i also got loads of bream too. i used an open end feeder with liquidised bread. i used to pile 3-4 slices on top of each other and punch them at the same time. so i had 4 pieces of bread on the hair and it was quite compressed once it got wet it swelled and merged into one piece that stayed on very well. i did try the small white ringers boilies and although it stayed on better than bread, the bread got taken much quicker

ive had quite a lot of sucess with hair-rigged bread in the margins and with bread at distance.

by far the best way i have found or hair-rigging bread is to place two raggedly torn pieces of crust (base of the loaf is best) with the crust back-to-back and secure with a pellet-peg or a plastic piece of corn and boilie stop. that way you have confidence that there is some bait on the rig if the bread comes off after a while.

at distance i use a 'bread boilie' just a hair-rigged ball of dough
