Leadcore, what do you guys think? The splicing sure is neat but I can't believe it will work as well as a knot.

I buy ready made leaders but a number of the lads splice rather than knot scratch

a splice is much stronger than a knot as when you splice it the more pressure you apply the stronger it gets,a knot has a strangulating affect

Not wanting to tell my Granny how to suck eggs but - you need to be careful with knots on leadcore - ie any beads terminal bits need to be able to pull over the knot or you are at risk of creating a death rig.

a bit fidly splicing but worth it i think - if i am unsure i just dab some super glue over the spliced area - though i am not sure its necessary - it makes me feel better.

i've found aslong as you have at least 1 inch of splice the loop is practically impossible to break. leaves a much neater set up and is a lot more cost effective if you buy a spool of leadcore and splice yourself rather than buying the readymades.

Is it still banned on the BT waters? I use the Korda safezone leaders, like has been said they are a fiver but last for ages if you don't lose in trees lol. They are even better now they have increased length to 1 metre instead of 60cm

I use the BERKLEY Snide Leaders if L.C is banned (like the B.T waters)
