set lines ???

me and stickysteve pitched up at a pond this evening ....... we were after those double figure tench ( no cigar ) ....... i threw out a mackerel as well ........ nothing doing ...... so i put on a few favourite lures and threw them down the side of the reeds .
pulled in a roach deadbait
sad thing was that this bait had a single small hook ( for pike ) attached to 6lb line ( tops ) NO TRACE with a 1/2 oz bomb ....... whole thing tied off to the scaffolding poles that made up the foundations of the peg , designed to hook into the pike's gut and to be retrieved WHENEVER

and the s**te we found in that peg was unbelievable ( including the remnants of a big fire ) ........... anyhow , we blanked , we filled a binliner with other angler's detreitus ( beleive me ...... everything )...... and we went home ( with it ) . Fantastic evenings fishing ......no catches ..... but a few highlights ... notably the large bat and the woodpeckers and owls . There are some sad f.uckers that we share this sport with
still ........... me and stevie had a ball ( as usual ) much respect feller

these things have got my goat and not 'arf
if you've hungry bellies to fill then crack on , set your lines , kill the pike and fill the bellies . my dad filled mine many times with pike ....... i thought we're out for a day of sport on our bikes at 2 hours before dawn ...... but the desperate man was doing everything he could to feed us .....and saturday was piking ... if we didn't catch ( kiddie hell ) we went the day after on our bikes ( kiddie heaven ) ...... i went to school and he put in 50/60 hours welding transformers ...... so yes , if out of desperation then i fully respect these people , been there , good times ......BUT NOT FOR SPORT

Its sad state of affairs mate but something we have to keep on top of, doing what you did will have saved at least one fishes life , all you can do is to contact the owners of the water and tell them of the lines and let them deal with it.
