I'll bring my socks for the delectation of your olfactory sensibilities as well if you agree to sell me a few LMAO LMAO Cheer Cheer Cheer
how'd you get on at tincaville yesterday me and stickysteve have applied to fish the same water on 19th April Party/socialize here's hoping

Sean, you need to know what you want, choose lures to work the depth of water your fishing is a good start, a confidence lure for you may be crap for me? I most probably have one of any lure you can think of useing for pike.

My buddy swares by rapala SSraps, he gets fish on them anywere, I think there crap! They just don't do it for me, now give me a Burt, not a squirly one, and I'll outfish him much to his bemusement as he car'nt get his head round them.

I would say you car'nt go wrong with a Manta but it looks like Ady has my last spare one, sorry mate Embarassed Give me some lure names you would like, I may have one.

Not fishing tenchville for a week or so yet, think we're on on the 16th or 17th, not sure so we'll probly miss each other. If Steve has'nt been before email me and I'll give you head start Wink

stingray wrote:one thing i noticed yesterday on the " lumpy canal " was that with that shimano reel you've nowhere to rest your thumb ..... it started aching after a couple of hours and after what woodchucker posted ( i saw him in the tackle shop returning what must have been the 12th reel yesterday afternoon ) I don't care how smooth the reel is I'll stick with the Abu's . These Abu's my dad gave me are entering their second decade of use , with a 30 year gap between the decades , they have never been serviced apart from the cleaning and oiling my old man gave them after every session and they are in MINT condition .
Ian , my 7000 reel is a right hander , it was my dad's favourite pike lure reel and he only bought the 5001c because he had some follows from serious perch and so decided to target them as well as the pike .....in your opinion , is the 7000 of any use in today's pike angling ? .....it seems very heavy and has the wing nut fixings i'd associate with a boat reel . I'm looking at it now and when i say mint ......it looks like it has just been delivered and never ever used but i know my dad used it for the best part of 10 years scratch

Sean slow down with the posts I carnt keep up! in short get the 7000 on ebay and get a 6501c3 with the cash, if it's mint it will make a bob or three, with all the left over cash by some Ti traces and 100lb braid Yup

I've got a 5501c3. I suppose it's the 6501c3's little sister! Nice little reel never had any trouble with it!

You should be able to find one for £35 if you shop about and bide your time. Your 5501 is perfect for smaller stuff, loaded with 50lb power pro its a dream for 6-7" cranks.
