Yes i agree, most of my piking is done by dead or live baiting and i use 15lb krystonite (f**king awsome gear) don't do too much lure work but i will be doing in the very near future.

Re: what thickness line for pikeing?
its some thing ive never used, so hopefully i can get a feel for it this weekend, and see what sort of things i need to do to get the best results with it....
i can connect with a pike just to see what the fight is like on it, its being said that you need to let the pike put the strain on the braid not you!!!!!!!! any ideas from you guys that use it would be greatly welcome.....

Re: what thickness line for pikeing?
i use braid for all my piking mostley lures the fight it better you feel every thing and you connect quicker with mono there 20% stretch so on 100yrds of mono you need to pick up that up with braid two turns and you are connected and its strong ive lifted a merc bonnet and pulled a weelie bin full of water out with it

Re: what thickness line for pikeing?
With carp it’s a different kettle of fish over pike as you know I use it for my long range carp fishing and 90% of mike pike fishing. Playing fish on braid is a much more of a direct experience, when the fish is under the rod tip slacken off the clutch by a couple of notches as this on carp can pull hooks as you have no stretch or even straighten hooks. But on pike its great as when you strike you know the hooks are going in. The one thing I must warn you about is casting. Don’t let it twist round the tip of your rod as a large dead bait will just slice the tip off. Also watch you finger it can cut through to the bone.

Re: what thickness line for pikeing?
I have just got my braid for my bait rods today, 40lb phantom red power pro, I cant wait to get it in the water, the advantages for me are easy.
Its by far more sensative than mono.
It has no stretch so setting the hooks is never an issue.
It generally floats which makes it great for float fishing.
If you get snagged up you can straighten the hooks and get your end tackel back which is always a good thing.
Do I have to go on
