Catch up/ Yorkshire LAS meeting!
I thought it was about time I caught up with people here. I have been lure fishing now for about a year including a hard winter where the fish were few and far between. During the colder months I spent my time catching few but learning much! With the help of a good mate I have increased my knowledge of the toothy beastie and how to catch, handle and return it safely. I have also built up my tackle to the extent that I have had to promise myself (and SWTSMBO) that enough is enough! I can no longer use my "man pound" system (telling the wife that the cost of items bought is about a third of what I actually paid) because she knows the true cost of fishing tackle.
I have had some decent fish among the 80 or so I have caught so far. The best, though not the heaviest, was a 15 1/2lb beauty that took a Salmo Mass Marauder surface lure in May. It burst out of the water when it took the lure and went off on run after run, tail walking four times and shaking its head so hard that I thought that the lure was sure to be dislodged. It was in perfect condition and went back beautifully.
I haven't been too well recently so have not been out as frequently as I would like but this has allowed me to get started with organising the new Yorkshire chapter of the LAS. I am hoping to get a solid base of members and would like to invite members here to come along to our first meeting.
The Cardigan Arms on Kirkstall Road has a small room that will suit our purposes well and Debbie, the landlady is happy to let us use it. There is plenty of parking available over the road at the Vue complex.
It will be held at 19.30 on Wednesday 15th July 2009 and all are welcome. Please let me know using the PM system here if you are able to attend. The meeting will be an opportunity to get to know each other, share information and discuss how future meetings might be structured.
Regards, Ken

I have recently taken over from Dave who used to run the YLAS as his work load and other commitments kept him from putting much time into organising the meetings/socials. This was announced on the LAS about six weeks ago at which time I asked for details of anyone interested in becoming involved with the new chapter. The numbers of members had dropped off and the meetings had become very infrequent. I am hoping to revitalise the section by attracting new members and introducing some new ideas.
I am strictly a co-ordinator and need input from as many people as possible both experienced and new to the sport in order to promote lure angling and build a solid chapter.

Re: Catch up/ Yorkshire LAS meeting!
If your talking about Dave Foyle, well your right Ken he is a busy lad and a good lure fisherman as well, I fished in Ireland with him a couple of years ago
I am a little sad that it has gone down hill as me and dad use to go every month, I would not be half the fisherman I am now without them lads, I fish with Kev Topfer, Steven Makin and Andy Foot on a regular basis. I have also fished a lot Andy Scott who I class as the best lurefishermen I by far, and I know some good ones. Good luck with the club Ken and I wil pop in and have a natter with you very soon
