Nice day out!

Nice day out!
Well apart from the fishing I had a nice day out with the wife! Bridlington is looking a fair bit battered now compared to what it used to look like when I was a kid (no comments about blackout and the blitz! I'm not the oldest on here by a long shot!)
This is the spot where it all began for me 36 years ago!

My Dad bought me a starter rod kit and left me here just above where the yellow boat is now, with a pot of muscles to use as bait while he and my Mum went shopping in the town. This became a regular event as I loved it. You couldn't do it now because of all the weirdo's that are about!
There's not many of the old fishing boats left now but the one famous boat is still there. The Three Brothers!

Looking as good now as it did years before. The pleasure boats are still sailing,

and the dry dock is still in service.

I thought at one point that Woody and Todd had sailed their ship in after some more of my bait!

The beach is still as clean as ever but there was hardly anyone on it. When I was a child this beach would be packed with holiday makers hiding behind their windbreakers trying to catch some sun, getting changed wrapped inside a beach towel! But now hardly a soul!

Some pastimes are still ongoing though!

It won't win any prizes but it's the thought that counts.
I thought I saw Nidge out for a walk with a few of our other members but it turned out to be another old favourite!

Bridlington is looking rough but it brought all kinds of childhood memories flooding back to me and I really enjoyed my short stay there after all these years!
