Started Bad ended good

I get up at 5 to go hit on of my favorite ponds. Get there around 5 30. I get the boat in the water and I am ready to go. I push off and I go to tilt the trolling motor in the water and that little lever breaks off. I am stuck. Paddle back and pack every thing up. It was such a cloudy day so I had to fix the motor some how. I did now it is just stuck tilt down which does get me out in the water. I start fishing again around 8 and I start throwing the slammer. It gets sucked down but the fish spits the hooks. I keep working down and I get a nice little 2lb 8oz. Then my next cast goes over a tree so I start tea bagging the slammer and It gets hit by a 2lb 5oz. I pick up a 4lb 10oz not to far from that.
The sun comes out a little so I start throwing an all white spinner bait. I start getting pickerel and 1lb bass. I go over to where I lost that first slammer fish. Spinner bait gets hit and its a very skinny 5 even.

My swim bait setup is as daiwa Light and Tough swim bait rod rated for 6-10inch baits. I use 25 mono and a green abu garcia.

I have a Daiwa, Abu combination that I'm hoping to try out this weekend!
