Cold clean water straight from the hose pipe. Then hung up to dry totally dry. Its the drying that kills the nasties.

i second that when ever i return from a session bivvy go's up to dry out and when i'm doing that the nets get a rinse from the hose pipe and left to dry on the line

This is taken from the Defra guidelines.
Iodine based preperations (idophors) are recommended. Idophors should be diluted to provide a final concentration of 250 parts per million active iodine or 500 parts per million in sea water.
Disinfection is achieved by immersion for 15-30 mins.
