15th March to 15th June close season (UK)

People must realise that they should not be fishing in the Rivers for coarse fish during the close season for coarse fish this is 15th March to 15th June inclusive. If you do you will face prosecution."

It is important to enforce the coarse fish closed season as fish need to be allowed to spawn successfully without being targeted by anglers. Fish become vulnerable to handling damage at spawning time and can fall victim to disease if handled."

Buying a new licence couldn’t be easier - around 15,000 Post Offices and other outlets sell them; a direct debit can be set up, and they can be purchased over the phone (0870 1662662) or on-line see our link..

It amazes me the amount of people that actually think you can fish on the 15th, i even caught people fishing on my local drain. I spoke to a few anglers about the close season, and most thought you could still fish on the 15th, this included guys in their 60's. EA should perhaps make this a bit more clearer.

Worm and ledger tactics and fly fishing are allowed all year apart from a couple of months for the migratory trout if you catch a course fish by accident you have to hold the line and use a disgorger and not touch it and return asap!
i fished the dane today and caught 3 brown trout
