Hi I’m Mick

Hi I’m Mick, I live at Kirkstall Leeds. I have been fishing on and off for about 44 years, I have done all sorts of fishing. Sea, coarse and fly fishing. At the moment I’m getting into carp fishing, I love doing overnighters, with my mates. We have a curry or a BBQ and a few beers and of course a laugh and some times we catch fish. I suffer with Emphysema which is chronic lung disease; I have oxygen at home and have to carry a portable bottle with me when I go fishing. The lads I go fishing with pick me up and help me with my tackle, if it’s a long walk to my peg they carry it for me and help me set everything up. Which I’m really grateful for because without their help I wouldn’t be able to go fishing which I love doing. I broke my a bone in my foot on the 21st August and it wasn’t healing and because of my Emphysema they where worried about operating on me but in the end they numbed me from the waist down and pinned it. So I have only been fishing twice since June but I’m going in about 3 week’s time to Pool Bridge Farm to fish one night and I can’t wait. Hope I haven’t bored you reading this. :D

It's good to read about people helping others out instead of all the crap we normally get to read about. You are a very lucky man having friends around you who care so much. A big well done to you for getting out there and a bigger well done to your mates for helping you!
I really hope you can make it to one of our socials in the future and if you need any help at all getting there I'm sure between all of us on here we will do all we can!

Hello there Mick,
great to see you arn't letting your illness or injuries stopping you from fishing, i severely broke my back in 96 in a paragliding accident and then again a year later,if it wasn't for my buddies and familly i wouldn't be able to walk now.it is my 1st Carp outing tomorrow and i am exited.
