Shimano Aero GTE 8000B
Hi there, it's your resident Tackle Tart here! I was browsing through evilBay the other day looking for a new reel to go with my new Fox carp rod when I spotted this little beauty:

This is brand new, just out and retailing at £125
EvilBay comes up trumps again, a complete bargain at just £62.00
At least I think it's a bargain (please don't go and burst my bubble, telling me you have seen one for less).
The wife will really kill me one of these days. Women just see you spending £60, they don't see that you actually saved £60 do they?
I will post a review of this reel just as soon as I get the chance to try it out along with the new carp rod!

I bought a matching one the other week before Dan and me went to Ardsley res. Cost £58 brand new! Since then I got the two Fox stratos and the new fox pike rods. Now I just need to get out and use them!
Anyone for a session?

I am on a serious downer when it comes to reels, the only ones I have confidence in is my Okumas, I know it sounds nuts but all but one of my 12 Shimanos have problems

I think Okuma make some great reels for the price I have a couple of the FX range! Great little spinning reels. Shame they stopped making them!
Life is what you make it, so it's your own fault!
Re: Shimano Aero GTE 8000B
A lot of the top pike anglers use em because they get abused and last forever, what else is a reel for

dum di dum di dum
shimano are dire if you want things to last
daiwa are a better bet as are penn (oh sorry nowhere near tartish enough though lol)
and okuma, ah well check the fox reels and youll find a price tag on an okuma reel to suit the general price hike carp badged equipment seems to demand
runs and hides for a bit
(could be worse i could have pointed out what i beleive is good for carp)
actually to be fair to shimano i am on the heavy handed side with gear but it does seem to be shimano reels that fail more so than any others ive used

Myself and a friend of mine actually feild tested 2 shimano's one was the 6000re lmt ed and the other was the one in question in this thread,we set them on bait runner and coupled the line to my dogs collar and to my amazement the one in question seized solid so on that study I have bought a pair of 6000re ltd ed for £35 loaded with nash line too, whether or not the 8000 shimano we was using was faulty already we will never know but the 6000's are still going strong,
I'm not a tackle tart but will go for brand names if the price is right.

Can i assume it wasnt an official field test for shimano
would hate to think they were involved with animal testing

No was'nt an official field test lol, infact to be honest it was not even a test,it was more of a mess about with a mate,my missus went light but if ya thinks thats bad you should see how I try out new baits,My kids love boilies better, they reckon the ground bait tastes like cheap musili lol....
