Post by G30RG3 on Tue Apr 22, 2008 6:48 pm

Hi

alright im spending a bit on money on some more carp gear cus at the mo its not the best so this is what i am looking at buying, please could you advice me if you know of anything thats better than the items listed here pls could you advice,

this is what im looking to buy

1 x chub + cyfish 2 man bivvy 160.00 plus groundsheet from .http://www.climaxtackle.com/chub/cyfish_bivvy.htm
looks good and a very cheap price but i personally liked this bivvy because you can fold it down and it acts as a unbrella aswell as a bivvy.

3 x wychwood roit freespin reels £75-£90 looks good and very cheap, my mates got some of these and they look pretty good though, one of these reels will be for a spod and not sure if will handle it?? any advice?

1 x bedchair, looking for a good bedchair from the £40-£50 pound range please post if you know of any Wink

1 x spod rod £40-£50 looking at the nash outlaw at £50 though if you know of any other from around that price range pls can you tell if you know of any Wink

Buying tackle can be a nightmare, however as an out and out pike angler I will give a little bit of advice, the Nash rod should be fine at the end of the day its only a spodding rod and it will be no use for anything else but that, the bivvy comes highly recomended by a number of magazines and friends, the reels are tricky because I would prefer to buy Okumas rather than wichwoods any day of the week, but the Diawa Regals seem to be great value for money so they are also worth a look, Stotty has done a write up on them so have a look at that first. Nidgemac has just bought a bedchair on evilbay for a good price so talk to him about it before you spend a fortune Wink

thanx for the advice and yes it is the same george from the other forums.
im looking for a big pit reel but obivously cheaper and with a baitrunner as iv recently found out that my house in france has a massive resivuor with big carp in it just 5 minuites away Cheer so im going to be fishing that alot and need a reel capable of casting out, far, also it has to be able to cast a heavy spod. is this real capable of that, its got the looks definatly looks the part. i liked the riot freespin as it was big and beefy and could cast out really well, just wondering is the regal around the same size as the riot freespin?

thanx george

£90 the lot is not going to get you 3 quality bait runner pit reels I am afraid Embarassed so get the Regal Plus they do it in a 5000BRI

That holds 340Yards of 14 lb line, or 250of 17lb

If you really are on a budget dude then why not go for a couple of Shimano 6000re ltd edition and for spodding your not gonna need a baitrunner of any kind so why not try the Okuma range, they are doing some hot but reasonably priced reels at the moment on ebay.

These are becoming very popular just lately.

I tend to agree if I was on a budget and had to have quality reels I would forgo the bait runner all together. The Regals are a good reel with 6 ball bearings and a bait runner facility and if you shop round you can get them for a good price.

Or save up a bit more and go with a set of theses you can get the bait runner conversion for them at a later date

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280219990404&mpt=1209214060666&tGUID=71e9c2e71190a0bae1f71507fff400c6

bait runer conversion

Free Spool Conversions Converts any of the following into a baitrunnerEmblem S/X/ZEmcastEmcast PlusEmblem ProEntohTournament 5000tSS3000 / SS9000

you will need to see if the convertion fits that model 100% but i used daiwa Emblems for yes for my carp fishing with the convertion on them

I sold them to a mate and he is still using them to this day and catching a lot of fish on them

No they have not got a freespool on them but a lot of the big pits dont. I can’t comment on the quality of those reels but that’s very cheap for 3 reels if they last you 2 years they have paid for them self’s but I know the Daiwa will still be working 5+ years down the line
