f1's have also been developed for the match angler on the pole they feed all winter and grow to managable size for pole fishing. young anglers can catch good weights of these fish and can help get young blood hooked (excuse the pun) on fishing and could help keep the sport going in the future. as for managing stocks of f1's the commercial fisheries are in the position to restock due to better revinue from match fishing and most have good restocking pollicies. there not a fish i fish for much myself but i can see many benifits. f1 carp are a going to be around for a long time you are just going to have to get used to the fact people like to catch them.

I agree with Blower on this even though one I don’t overly love the F1 strain two I can see people like carpcats problem of we are playing god (I have kept many hybrid fish in the past so know a thing about this) but commercial fishery are our future I am afraid. You can take a young angler down there and keep him interested as they will catch. The stocking of theses fish is relatively cheap, when compared to large king carp. I think they have there place ok I would be the first one to say sitting behind my alarms or better still stalking a large carp is my thing but I have been known to dabble on the odd commercial with my son and if it was not for this sort of place the likes of Doug would not be back into fishing after years off the seen. He even commented on he has never caught so many and seen suck large fish in all his years angling as a kid. I am afraid its horses for courses on this one if we all liked the same we would all be lets say pike angler or carp anglers I like to say I am an all round angler. (s**t at the lot geek ) KHV which can kill up to 80% of fish stock in a water and leaves others as potentially dangerous carriers and can wipe out a mans living in one hit. If we can make a fish tolerant of it and with match men taking nets from place to place its got to be a good thing. The other plus is yes they are mules so can’t breed so no environmental impact if they do escape. Just more pike food Suspect

Gotta say, fishings not just about catching big fish, I get as much enjoyment from catching roach or other smaller species,as I do from sitting behind alarms waiting for a carp(or pike Suspect) to scream off.
It about being out there doing what you love, relaxing beside the water, the fish are a bonus. Im quite happy to blank in a nice location Wink
